evill

for every superhero there is a villain. my favorite "bad guy" is the joker. he is my favorite because he likes anarchy and the fact of having any type of chaos. he is smart in the way he carries out his "job". for instance in The Dark Night when he is robbing a bank he has a bunch of people wear masks so they all look like clowns. he makes them do the job for him so he does not risk himself of being caught. then he kills all of the people who did the work of getting the money and putting it into the back of a school bus. right before the cops show up he is driving with a bunch of other school busses to disguise himself so the cops do not see him. But even though he does not want to be seen robbing a bank he doesn’t care if the police knows what he looks like and what crimes he has commited. But the main reason I like the Joker is that he doesn’t like the money that he can make. He likes good old fashion villains.

surprisingly to me all of the boys, by the end of lord of the flies decides to join jacks tribe. which surprises me when Ralphs system of a tribe is more civil and more ruleish. jack has his tribe in fear and this is how he stays ruler for that tribe. in the book it says that Jack was sitting in his rulers chair waiting for his food while the tribe members work like servants. unlike Ralphs way of leader ship. he is more on the lines of what needs to be done. he is not a crazy man running around only worried about meat. Raplh is mainly concerned about rescue shelter, water, and order. i think that society is corrupt and face the same type of problem as does on this island. our nation is not as bad but i think that people are corrupt to a level. i think this because every is a little crazy in some way but not every one is crazy enough to lets say commit a murder or rob a bank. but some people do things like lying.

in my view of the book that i have read so far. it seems to me that he is comparing the book to human society. based on the book it seems like he is trying to show how human society can be corrupt. they are all very young in the book, and of course when you make rules kids seem to break them. they all decide at first to vote on a chief and make rules too follow. in that sense i think he is comparing them trying to follow rules on this island to kids trying to follow rules in a classroom. in chapter 3 they establish a rule saying that only the kid holding the conch can speak and wont be interrupted. then shortly after most of the kids are talking when the kid with the birthmark on his face is trying to tell them about the monster snake. so already the rules are being broken right away. also when piggy tells Ralph not to call him piggy, and then he starts calling him piggy. that shows me that these kids can not be trusted and people will in this sense turn on people. sorta like this class experiment when we would have to choose one finger or 2. if you both put one finger you gotta point, and if one of the kids put one finger and the other two the one with two got two point and the other lost a point. when the kids agreed to both go for one finger and then they both put out two fingers loosing points. it just goes to show you that people can turn on you even if you don't expect it.

Can we trust people to be good? If we left a group of people on an island with adequate food and water and no external threats, would they be able to live together?

i think that they would eventually get sick and tired of each other. also they might go their own separate ways because someone who could kind of be taking leadership makes rules or anything of that nature that the rest don't like. maybe they might even have their own kingdoms almost and claim land for themselves, and get into a war against each other. or they could all get along and learn how to deal with some of the ways people are trying to do things. another possibility would be to make sure that what ever they're going to do, lets say they have to make a tough decision. then they should make sure that every body agrees on the decision before they act.

poem

last week i memorized the poem catch a little rhyme by Eve Merriam. one of my favorite lines is when she talks about it stretching into a whale. i dislike the poem because she just makes it rhyme and talks about something that she doesn't even identify what it is that is changing into whales and cats. i think that the whole point of this poem is stupid because it makes no sense and just rhymes. the tone of the poem i think is just to appeal to little kids and give them something to say for enjoyment but on a adult scale i think that it is just pointless. all she talks about is something that changes into something then she chases it and watches it turn into something else. then it finally blows away and the torcher is over even though it would be interesting to find out what it is that keeps changing but that is all i have to say about that poem.

I set it on the floor
but it ran right out the door

I chased it on my bicycle
but it melted to an icicle

I scooped it up in my hat
but it turned into a cat

I caught it by the tail
but it stretched into a whale

I followed it in a boat
but it changed into a goat

When I fed it tin and paper
it became a tall skyscraper

Then it grew into a kite
and flew far out of sight ...

the holidays

Every year on Christmas morning my family and I have a big breakfast before opening our gifts. My family doesn't eat bacon the whole year until we have our Christmas breakfast. Then after our breakfast we all sit down by the tree and give our gifts from us to the family. after opening all of our gifts we clean  up all of the paper and then do whatever it is we have planned for the day. Then usually a couple of days later we take a flight up to Boston to meet up with cousin's and other family. my family and i usually stay up there for about a week. It's a good amount of time to go snowboarding and some party's. then when we leave and come back to Florida and finally get home and unpack our bags that's when we all have nothing to do. So we all just sit around hoping to find something to do. Then when school comes along we all go back to the way things were before. that's the way my family and i spend our holidays.

take away

one thing i would take away from of the storys to the odyssey. i would actually not take away anything because i feel that every part to the odyssey has a reason. every little thing that happens even if it sounds stupid it plays an important role to the outcome of the story.
